Dear Friend,

Abby ShieldsWith last month’s launch of a capital campaign for a building for No Heart Left Behind, we stepped out in faith towards something that has been a part of our vision from the very beginning. As we indicated before, the purpose of a building would be to bring the three growing facets of our ministry; the Counseling, Care, and Family-focused Classes, under one roof and allow for greater reach and ministry to our community. We are excited about the potential plans we have for this building, and we continue to trust God to sharpen and direct those plans and their timing for his glory. My hope over the next couple of months is to help you catch a detailed vision for this building so that you could share in our excitement about the growth potential for our ministry were God to bless us with a building.

This month, I would like to share my heart and vision with you concerning our counseling ministry. I am most passionate about this area of ministry because it is through counseling with the Word of God, and guiding people to the ultimate counselor, Jesus, where I see wounds healed and hearts filled with hope. With a full counseling schedule and many on a waiting list, the undeniable truth is that so many people are hurting. Whether a believer or not, wounded hearts that manifest themselves in sin are destroying lives and marriages. The need for counselors who can counsel from the truths and principles in scripture and guide people to heart-level transformation is great because spiritual problems cannot be healed with worldly things. As the only counselor on staff, there simply is not enough time in the week to meet with every individual or couple that looks to the ministry for help.

Our desire for a building concerning our counseling ministry would be to have multiple counseling offices and train up counselors with the skill set needed to be able to minister from a biblical perspective to the heart needs of those who walk through the doors.  We would also like to bring on specialized counselors for areas like drug and alcohol abuse and mental illness in order to better minister to the full spectrum of heart issues.  With more trained counselors using their unique gifts and experiences, NHLB could reach more hurting hearts with the Word of God and the love of Christ.

As you begin to catch the vision for our building, we would ask that you would prayerfully consider a financial gift toward our building fund or commit as a monthly partner to help support the budget increase required for a building. As always, we ask for your prayers for wisdom and discernment as we move forward in faith with this endeavor. Thank you and God Bless!

In His Grip,
Abby Shields
