Dear Friend,

Abby ShieldsHappy New Year! I hope that 2016 was a year of blessings for you and that 2017 will be all the more. Like many of you, we like to take a moment to reflect on the year behind us and look forward to what God has for us in the upcoming year. 2016 was a great year for No Heart Left Behind. We celebrated our 10th year of ministry, expanded the reach of our family classes, and saw an increase in opportunities for our staff to speak about Jesus. Our counseling ministry remained strong, and we hosted another successful beach retreat where approximately 35 women had the opportunity to relax, fellowship, and grow in their walk with the Lord.

Perhaps what is the most fresh in my mind from 2016 is our largest Adopt a Family outreach to date! Because of your support, we were able to serve over 150 children spread out over 50 families with a Christmas they would not have had otherwise. It is hard to put into words the impact for Christ your compassion and generosity has on these families, but it is never so evident as it is on distribution day when the families show up to pick up their gifts. Instead of an impersonal, “stand in line to pick up a gift or two for their kids” kind of experience, we met them with a warm welcome, an abundance of gifts, and through the partnership with Trinity Church missions team, a warm meal for their family. They are blown away! They experience something different, and that difference is the love of Jesus through His people. Having the opportunity to watch the church be the church leaves my heart so full. I cannot thank you enough for answering the call for this outreach.

Looking forward to 2017 we have expectant hearts for God to do some big things in the ministry. Like every year, we will meet with our board to have our annual vision meeting where we will set out the goals for the upcoming year. Please be in prayer that we would keep in step with where the Lord is leading us. Also, like every year, we will kick 0ff 2017 with our very popular Chance for Romance dinner dance and fundraiser! Save the date for Saturday, February 4th at Benedicts Plantation in Mandeville from 6:30-10:00pm. Back by popular demand will be the band, 4 Unplugged, who provided a great night of music and entertainment last year. We will also have our Cajun Auction as well as a small silent auction featuring two autographed footballs signed by New Orleans Quarterback, Drew Brees.

Tickets are on sale now for either $50, which includes dinner and a cash bar, or $75 for an all-inclusive evening with dinner and drinks. To get your tickets for this fun evening, you can mail the included order form with a check made out to NHLB, or go to our website for more information, including sponsorships and online ticket purchase at This event plays a vital role in our ability to sustain the ministry for the upcoming year, so please prayerfully consider becoming a sponsor and/or attending the event. Thank you and God Bless!

In His Grip,
Abby Shields
